Items page
![]()
The Items page shows all items and selected views of items in winnowTag. It’s where you can read items found by public tags and your own tags, and where you can create tags.
See all items
In the sidebar, when the “See all items” tag is selected (highlighted), all items in winnowTag are in the items list. This means that all items winnowTag has collected in the last 90 days will be listed. The list shows quickly because items appear when the list is scrolled.
Note: You can click “See all items” to deselect other sidebar tags and return to a view of all items currently in winnowTag.
Find items using tags
Click a tag in the sidebar to see the list of items it finds, that is, winnowTagged items. When a tag is clicked, it becomes highlighted in yellow. Item lists are always shown newest first.
When a tag is selected in the sidebar, the grey information bar at the top of the page displays real time counts for the tag’s winnowTagged items, as well as total items and feeds in winnowTag. See example info bar for “energy” tag:

Numbers on items
A higher number at the left of an item means winnowTag is more certain that the item is a correct match for the selected tag. See numbers on items found by “space” tag:

3 tag types in sidebar
— Plain, no icon on tags you create that are not public.
— Dark globes on tags you create that you have made public.
— Dim globes on public tags that you are subscribed to.
Upon mouseover, tags are highlighted in blue. When selected, tags are highlighted in yellow.
If the tag is one you created, but have not shared as public, it tells you the number of items the tag currently finds, and the number of positive and negative example items used to create the tag.
If the tag is one you created and made public, it tells you that, plus the number of items the tag currently finds, and the number of positive and negative example items used to create the tag.
If the tag is a public tag you’re subscribed to, it tells you that, plus the tag creator’s user name, the number of items the tag currently finds, and the number of positive and negative example items used to create the tag.
Make public, rename, or delete tags in sidebar
Also when you mouseover a tag in the sidebar a tiny triangle icon appears on the right end of the tag’s highlighted area. Clicking the triangle icon on your own tags offers the options “Public, Rename, and Delete.”
Click “Public” to share one of your own tags as public. Click “Rename” to edit or change the name of one of your own tags. Click “Delete” to permanently destroy one of your own tags.
Unsubscribe in sidebar
On tags you’re subscribed to, “Unsubscribe” is the only option available in the sidebar. Click “Unsubscribe” to remove the tag from your sidebar and from your My Tags page. Note: At any time you can re-subscribe to a public tag from the Public Tags page — unless the public tag has since been deleted or removed as public by its creator. In such cases, once you click “Unsubscribe” a message tells you that the tag is no longer available on the Public Tags page, and that if you unsubscribe you will not be able to subscribe again.
